Meet Shelley Serdahely Nagrani

Board Member

Shelley Serdahely Nagrani began her journey as an advocate for women’s safety in 1971 when, with the help of her community, she escaped an abusive relationship. Ten years later, she was invited to leave her job as director of a medical diagnostic laboratory to lead the efforts of the St. Vincent de Paul Society to open a shelter for women who were victims of violence. The shelter, Rosalie House in San Francisco, was opened in less than a year and Shelley never returned to the private sector.

From that time, she has worked to end violence against women, either as a staff person or as a board member until, after 15 years, she retired from her position as executive director of Men Stopping Violence. She is excited to return to the work as she joins the board of No Harm.
